No. FacePair is an AI-powered facial resemblance tool, not a genetic DNA test. It analyzes visible facial geometry — including feature spacing, proportions, and structural contours — to estimate how visually similar family members appear to one another. It does not access or test biological or chromosomal data.
Do black-and-white photos produce accurate results?
Yes. FacePair’s analysis engine measures geometric distances and structural proportions rather than color data. Vintage black-and-white prints, sepia photographs, and older scanned images are as scannable as modern digital portraits, provided the face is clearly visible and reasonably sharp.
Why doesn’t my highest score always feel like my closest match?
FacePair scores facial geometry — measurements such as eye spacing, nasal bridge angles, and jaw contour ratios — rather than overall appearance. A relative may feel visually similar to you due to shared colouring, hairstyle, or expression, while the underlying bone structure geometry scores lower. Conversely, a high-scoring relative may share precise structural proportions that are less obvious to the eye. Adding multiple photos per person reduces the effect of lighting, pose, and age differences on the result.
